What to Wear on a Moving Day?

What to Wear on a Moving Day

Relocating is not only busy and possibly stressful – it can be dangerous, too. Whether you are preparing for a local Chicago relocation or a long distance move, you can stumble across many difficulties and setbacks. One of them, believe it or not, is how you dress on your moving day.

Your clothes and shoes can either protect you and your moving team or endanger you while you are carrying boxes and heavy furniture. What is recommended to wear while relocating your belongings? Let’s check out all the safety suggestions together.

Comfortable, Breathable Clothes & Shoes

As you will be on the go the whole day, you need to feel comfortable in whatever you wear. Mind the materials on your skin and the comfort the clothes (and especially the shoes) give you. Also, since you will be moving around a lot – bending, kneeling, carrying things around, the materials should be flexible.

Don’t Wear Baggy Clothes

The more close-fitting your clothes are, the less chance you will have of getting it caught on something, ripping, or causing even more damage. Tuck it in, zip it up, and make sure you are safe in those clothes.

Clothes that Correspond to the Season

It goes without saying, but you will have to wear appropriate clothes for the season you’re in and the weather conditions on that day. Having said that, please bear in mind that, even if you relocate in colder months, you will move around a lot and might feel warm. That’s why you should layer your clothes so you can put on or take off a piece if needed.

Mind the Pockets and Zippers

We already mentioned safety, but we should mention practicality, too. Your clothes should have pockets that can be zipped shut so your wallet, smartphone, or keys are safe and you don’t lose them. If your pockets, for example, allow you to place a screwdriver or another handy tool, in them, that is a bonus.
