Holidays in Barrington Are Near! – Packing Ornaments

When you are moving, there are so many things to do before the day of relocation. The holidays are near and, aside from all your clothes, furniture, and other belongings, it’s the right time to sort and pack your holiday ornaments. Of course, your Christmas decorations aren’t something you’d think about first when you’re relocating, but you know how many ornaments, lights, and other shiny supplies you have in your basement (or attic) and it might give you a headache. Your new home in Barrington, Chicago is going to shine beautifully!

Packing holiday ornaments when moving maybe isn’t as fun as decorating before the holiday season, but it’s a necessity. Use our helpful tips on how to pack them!

Do Ornaments’ Inventory

Before you get to work with packing all the shiny and glittery belongings, use the same procedure as with the rest of your belongings – do the necessary purge. We all tend to collect junk over the years, so make sure to throw away those Christmas tree lamps that are broken, but also save all the beautiful ornaments you know you can use this very holiday season. Sometimes we get too consumed into shopping for the things we don’t really need. When you check on your ornaments’ supply, you’ll see you probably have more than you need.

Sorting Your Holiday Arsenal

We know, packing the holiday decorations isn’t as fun as decorating itself. However, if you do a good job packing your ornaments, you will thank yourself once you get to your new home and start unpacking them for the upcoming holidays. Here is an extra tip – to make the unpacking and decorating later on much easier, take some extra time to sort the ornaments into categories. You can categorize them however you want. Depending on your preference and the number of ornaments, you can organize them by the type (lights, Christmas tree décor, garlands, stockings), color (gold, white, red), rooms (living room, kitchen), etc.

What Packing Supplies Do You Need?

Just like we mentioned in the previous paragraph (and in one of our blogs as well), before spending money on packing supplies, check what you already have at home. You’ll surely need some bubble wrap, packing paper (some old newspapers will do as well), plastic containers or boxes, tape, and markers for labeling. With said packing supplies, you’ll be good to go.

Extra Careful With Ornaments

Holiday decorations (e.g., Christmas tree ornaments) are usually much more fragile than some of your other belongings. That’s why you should take extra care while wrapping them and placing into boxes, as well as making sure they are well secured. Some of you tend to keep some vintage Christmas tree ornaments which can be expensive and easily breakable, so make sure transport them in one piece.

Illuminate Your Neighborhood in Barrington

Once you settle into your new home and before the holiday season starts, be sure to have fun while decorating your new home. Whether it’s only your balcony on the building or the front yard, make sure it shines bright and illuminate your mood as well. Happy holidays!
